Hoper & Grain is a cafe tucked in the quieter corner of Hann's Commercial Centre in Sibu, offering a calm retreat for those who appreciate thoughtfully prepared coffee and a relaxed environment. The interior leans toward a modest, intimate setting that sets it apart from louder, more crowded spots, making it a practical choice for solo coffee drinkers, casual catch-ups, or low-key work sessions.

Coffee here is clearly a point of pride; they serve a single-origin medium light roast as their standard espresso, recently sourcing beans from Thailand’s Akha region. This attention to quality resonates through drinks like their espresso and interesting milk-based options, such as the houjicha latte, which carries a rich, nutty flavor. The takeaway cappuccino also gets nods from regulars looking for a quick pick-me-up without sacrificing taste.

For those with a sweet tooth, desserts like the pistachio cheesecake and tiramisu cake offer a satisfying complement to the drinks. There’s even a fusion item called “batikmisu,” combining local Batik cake with tiramisu, that’s notably shareable thanks to its generous portions—though some might find the sweetness needs balancing. Savory options like the daging masak hitam pie also make appearances, catering to those wanting a light meal alongside their coffee.

The crowd here seems diverse but leans toward people who appreciate a calm atmosphere—think mid-morning or late afternoon visits when the natural light softens the cafe’s clean, slightly minimalist decor. It’s a spot where locals pause their day rather than rush through it, and the environment invites lingering over a book or quiet conversation.

While pricing is on the higher side compared to other local cafés, the experience and quality appear to justify it for many patrons. The thoughtful drink preparation and the friendly expertise of the baristas who calibrate their espresso shots carefully contribute to a consistent, enjoyable visit.

Overall, Hoper & Grain serves as a comfortable, unpretentious space for coffee enthusiasts in Sibu who value well-made, distinctive brews paired with equally distinctive desserts. It’s ideal for those moments when you want more than just a caffeine boost—a place to savor your coffee and the calmness of a slower pace in town.

Stumbled upon this classy cafe in Sibu! Loved the atmosphere and had tiramisu (muslim friendly ; no rum) and irish cream latte; no alcohol as well - so it is safe to devour! Price was quite pricey but worth every penny c: definitely will come back again!

I enjoyed the atmosphere here with the houjicha latte, which was rich and flavorful. I also tried the batikmisu, apparently a fusion of Batik cake and tiramisu. While I really enjoyed it, the batik cake layer was too sweet , and the portion was quite generous - ideal for sharing between two people. Highly recommend!

So happy to see a coffee shop in Sibu that serves single origin, medium light roast coffee as its default espresso bean! I visited here on different occasions and have ordered espresso each time alongside other milk-based drinks, they were all good. Kudos to the baristas who calibrated and pulled the shots! They are currently serving single origin Thailand’s Akha and I highly recommend Espresso, Iced Latte with Oat Milk & Iced Dirty Latte with Fresh Milk. For hot drink, I think the Flat White was too hot, had to let it cool down in order to really enjoy the coffee. But it was nice Hoping to see more single origins espresso offerings in the future, but most importantly I hope this coffee shop can maintain its quality. Foods wise I would say they are good, but there are a lot of room of improvements. The tiramisu is definitely for someone with sweet tooth Service wise both FOH & baristas are really friendly, and this coffee shop definitely has a great ambiance for you to catch up with family & friends or just spend some alone time enjoying coffee!

A cozy spot to get a decent cup of coffee. The decorations are different from other cafes.

The environment is super comfortable, and the interior decoration is also unique in the local area. It's a place for relaxation and afternoon tea. I love their cakes, truly delicious. Highly recommend this place.

The go-to cafe of mine whenever in Sibu. It's a beautifully ambient space nestled in the Hann's Residence complex a slight east from town-centre Sibu. The atmosphere is clearly crafted with little devils assorting the details, from the base textures, of their palette and lighting, down to the individual items of decoration scattered purposefully in its high-vaulted and table-ample allthewhile cosy-feeling space. And the servings that the cordial Hoper team brew up match this high standard; the brunchbuilts and teatimers are savoury bites well worth the calories, but I find the beverages Hoper's star highlight, what with its tonically inspired coffees, to its elegant and eccentric tea-based offerings. I make it a point to squeeze in an hour or two at the very least upon an unimposing table at Hoper per every trip to Sibu I make.

Beautiful chill place to come in Sibu, with excellent coffee. We felt so cool and relaxed here. Their home-made cakes are really delicious too. We want to try their breakfast next time. They have a number of single origin coffees for sale. Nice to see more of these places coming up in Sibu. This is definitely worth to come and try!
